International Supercomputing Conference (ISC 12): Call for Papers
The International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) is an IEEE-recognized global conference and exhibition for high performance computing, networking and storage. ISC is moving into its 27th year of providing a platform for 2,300 like-minded HPC researchers, technology leaders, scientists and IT-decision makers to get together and find solutions for HPC challenges.
The ISC 12 will be held from June 17–21, 2012, at the following venue:
CCH–Congress Center Hamburg
Am Dammtor / Marseiller Straße
20355 Hamburg
Germany
The CCH is centrally located in the heart of Hamburg and can be easily reached via all modes of transportation.
Call for Papers
The Research Paper Sessions provide first class open forums for engineers and scientists in academia, industry and government to present and discuss issues, trends and results that will shape the future of high performance computing.
For the first time, we will feature the submission of a single topic in the new research thrust: in the 50k+ topic we encourage scientists to submit parallelization approaches which lead to scalable applications on more than 50,000 (CPU or GPU) cores.
Important Dates
| Full Paper Submission Deadline | Sunday, January 22, 2012 |
| Notification of Acceptance | Tuesday, March 6, 2012 |
| Camera-ready Submission | Monday, March 19, 2012 |
Areas of Interest
We encourage submission of high-quality papers reporting original work in theoretical, experimental and industrial research and development in the following areas:
Architectures
|
Storage & Data
|
Algorithms & Analysis
|
Software Engineering in HPC
|
Large Scale Simulations
|
Supercomputing Facility
|
Future Trends
|
Scalable Applications: 50k+
|
Submissions on other innovative aspects of high performance computing are also welcome.
Research Thrust: 50k+
The increasing number of processing elements is challenging for application developers — in order to achieve a high scalability of the massively parallel systems, codes must be designed carefully. This year, we encourage scientists to submit results which demonstrate scaling of an application on more than 50,000 cores. Results with GPGPU applications can be submitted as well, “cores” may be CPU or GPGPU cores or any combination of them. Submitted papers should include the problem description, the parallelization approaches and benchmarks proving high scalability and efficiency of the application. We hope to encourage developers of different fields of science to submit and present their research in the conference.
Awards
Two awards are given to outstanding papers. The German Gauss Center for Supercomputing sponsors the Gauss Award, which will be assigned to the most outstanding paper in the field of scalable supercomputing.
PRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing will award the PRACE Award to the best scientific paper by a European student or scientist in the following areas:
- A breakthrough in science achieved with high performance computing resources.
- Algorithms or implementations that achieve significant improvements in scalability.
- Novel approaches to performance evaluation on massively parallel architectures.
The PRACE Award will be given to a paper submitted to ISC’12 or submitted to the PRACE Day.
Submission
Full papers should be submitted via the EasyChair conference system by Sunday, January 22, 2012. We only accept submissions in PDF format which are correctly formatted using the Springer LaTeX style and do not exceed 8 pages. Incorrectly formatted papers will be excluded from the reviewing process. Papers will be peer-reviewed by three reviewers and will be evaluated based on their novelty, fundamental insights and potential for long-term contribution. For details on the author guidelines, please refer to Springer’s website. Please use Springer’s two-column LaTeX macro package and choose the formatting option “twocolumn”.
By submitting a paper, you agree to present the paper at ISC’12 in Hamburg, Germany; presenters need to be registered ISC’12 participants.
Proceedings
A maximum of 24 accepted papers will be published in a special edition of “Computer Science – Research and Development”, Springer Verlag, Germany, which will be available at ISC’12 from June 17 on.
